JP Entertainment

Our Team

Meet the JP Entertainment team.

One accountable team, every DJ trained on the same planning process, before your date is ever assigned.

JP Entertainment is growing from John Owens (DJ JP) into a small, accountable team. Every DJ trains on the same written planning packet, timeline coordination, and backup equipment standard John has used for 15+ years, and couples meet their DJ before booking.

John Owens, Founder, DJ & MC

John Owens

Founder, DJ & MC

John Owens, known as DJ JP, has worked as a musician, MC, and DJ for more than 15 years. He founded JP Entertainment in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and personally builds the planning packet and timeline for every couple before their wedding.

Charisa Owens, Live Music & Receptionist

Charisa Owens

Live Music & Receptionist

Charisa Owens performs alongside John as the acoustic duo Bigger Than Us, playing acoustic guitar, ukulele, cajon, and two-part harmony for ceremonies and cocktail hours. She is also JP Entertainment's receptionist and a point of contact for couples throughout the planning process.

FAQ

Team questions we get asked

Who will actually DJ our wedding?
You choose. Classic ($1,995) is with DJ Justin La Torre, and Signature ($2,895) is with founder John Owens (DJ JP). Either way, you meet with John and your DJ in planning meetings before the event.
Can we meet our DJ before the wedding?
Yes, planning meetings are part of every package, so you'll meet and talk through your timeline with your DJ before the event. This is one of the process steps couples consistently point to in our reviews.
Do all JP Entertainment DJs follow the same process?
Yes, every DJ uses the same written planning packet, timeline coordination, and backup equipment standard John has used for 15+ years. That consistency is the point of building a team instead of just adding freelancers.
What happens if our assigned DJ gets sick?
We carry backup equipment and coordinate coverage within the team so your event goes on as planned. This is part of why JP Entertainment has never canceled an event for equipment reasons in 15+ years.
Is Charisa part of the live music, or is she a DJ too?
Charisa Owens performs live music as half of the acoustic duo Bigger Than Us. She is not one of the wedding DJs.
How are new DJs trained?
New DJs are trained on John's planning packet, timeline coordination process, and backup equipment standards before they take on wedding dates. They shadow real events as part of that training.
How many DJs does JP Entertainment have?
Two DJs today: John Owens and Justin La Torre. We plan to add another DJ, who will train at real events before taking any bookings of their own.
