How Much Does a Wedding DJ Cost in Coeur d'Alene?

Wedding DJs in Coeur d’Alene typically start between $1,000 and $2,500, based on the starting prices local vendors list on WeddingWire. JP Entertainment has two all-inclusive wedding DJ packages: Classic with DJ Justin La Torre for $1,995 and Signature with founder John Owens (DJ JP) for $2,895. For any DJ, the final number comes down to a short list of factors: hours booked, whether you need ceremony coverage in addition to the reception, how many spaces need sound, who your DJ is, and which add-ons you choose.

Here’s what actually moves the number if you’re planning a wedding in Coeur d’Alene or Spokane.

What drives the price of a wedding DJ

A few things consistently push a DJ quote up or down:

  • Hours. A 4-hour reception costs less than a 6-hour day that also covers your ceremony.
  • Ceremony plus reception versus reception only. Covering both means more equipment, more setup, and often a second sound system for your officiant and vows.
  • A second or third location. Moving gear between a ceremony site and a reception site, or covering multiple spaces on one property, adds time and labor.
  • Live music. Adding an acoustic set for your ceremony or cocktail hour is a different service than DJ music, so it’s priced separately.
  • Lighting. Uplighting and other lighting add-ons are optional extras on top of base DJ service.
  • Who’s on the mic. A company’s founder or most experienced DJ usually costs more than a newer team DJ.
  • Travel. Weddings outside a DJ’s primary service area often carry a travel fee.

JP Entertainment’s two packages

We keep it to two all-inclusive packages, and the main difference is who your DJ is:

  • Classic, $1,995. DJ Justin La Torre, trained by John on our planning process.
  • Signature, $2,895. Founder John Owens (DJ JP), plus moving-head lighting, 4 ft LOVE marquee letters, and handheld party lights.

Both include up to 6 hours of DJ and MC service, a two-person crew (your DJ plus an assistant), two sound setups for your ceremony and reception, planning meetings with John and our planning packet, dance floor lighting with 8 uplights, and no travel fees within 50 miles of Post Falls. A $1,000 deposit at signing holds your date, and the balance is due by your final planning meeting.

Add-ons that change the total

A few add-ons are common: extra hours ($150 per hour booked in advance, $250 if added the night of), a third sound setup for a separate cocktail hour space ($450), additional uplights ($200 per case of 8), and 4 ft LOVE marquee letters ($340). Classic couples can add moving-head lighting ($200) or handheld party lights ($50), which Signature already includes. Live music starts at $700, and travel beyond 50 miles of Post Falls is a custom quote. None of these are required.

What a planning packet actually is

“Planning packet” gets used loosely in this industry, so here’s what it means for us: a written document covering your day-of timeline, must-play songs, do-not-play list, who needs to be introduced and how, and how your DJ coordinates with your other vendors, like your photographer or venue coordinator. We build it with you over a series of lead-up meetings before your wedding, not a single form you fill out once. By the time your wedding day arrives, there shouldn’t be open questions about timing or music left to figure out on the fly.

Questions worth asking any DJ before you book

Price isn’t the only thing that determines whether a DJ is a good fit. Before you sign with anyone, ask:

  1. What happens if your equipment fails? A DJ without backup gear can go silent mid-reception.
  2. Who exactly is showing up on my wedding day? Some companies book you with one person and send another.
  3. How much MC experience do you have? Playing music and running a reception as MC are different skills.
  4. How do you handle song requests? You want requests filtered against your list, not taken from any guest who asks.
  5. What happens if the timeline slips? Ask how your DJ adjusts without losing the flow of the night.

A low quote that skips backup equipment or MC experience can cost more on the actual day than a higher quote that includes both. We carry backup equipment to every event and have never canceled a wedding for equipment reasons in more than 15 years, and we currently hold 40 five-star reviews on Google from couples across Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Sandpoint, and Spokane.

A $1,000 quote and a $3,000 quote for the same date usually aren’t the same service. The lower end often means reception-only coverage, fewer hours, one person running everything, and no backup equipment guarantee. The higher end usually means ceremony coverage, a longer day, an assistant, lighting, and a documented planning process. Neither number is wrong on its own; the question is which one matches what your wedding actually needs.

A few quick answers

Is wedding DJ pricing negotiable? Our package prices are fixed and published, so every couple pays the same for the same package. Add-ons let you build past the base package if you want more.

Does pricing change during peak wedding season? No. Our prices stay the same year-round. May through October weekends simply book out faster, so those dates fill earlier at the same price.

What’s not included in the package price? Extra hours, a third sound setup, additional uplights, marquee letters with Classic, live music, and travel beyond 50 miles of Post Falls are priced as add-ons. Photography, video, and photo booths aren’t something we sell, but we’re happy to recommend local vendors.

If you want exact numbers for your date, venue, and guest count, visit our packages and pricing page for the full breakdown of both packages and every add-on.

Check availability for your date.

Peak weekends fill up first. Send us your date and what you need, and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
